Viron Erol Vert

In his artistic practice, Viron Erol Vert (*1975) questions the construction of identity and our view of the self and the foreign. His own multicultural upbringing plays a key role in his research processes, as does his close connection to various sub-cultural contexts and Berlin's club scene, especially the former Ostgut Club and later Berghain. The tension between logos and myth, technology and religion, physics and esotericism, Orient and Occident, body, mind and soul is also the starting point of his immersive works.

His solo exhibitions include Der Chronist,| Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, Stuttgart (2014), Born in the Purple, Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien, Berlin (2017), The Name of Shades of Paranoia, Galerie Wedding, Berlin (2017) and Ich mag keine Ausländer aber bei dir ist es was anderes, Kunstverein Hamburg (2020).
Vert has also participated in international group exhibitions including The Conundrum of Imagination at Leopold Museum, Vienna (2017), DE-HEIMATIZE IT!, 4.Berliner Herbstsalon, Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin (2019), A Handful Of Dust, Ehrenhalle, Berlin (2020) and ATOMS, SOULS, SENSES, Villa Romana, Florence, Italy (2021).
In 2018, Viron Erol Vert was the winner of the Villa Romana Prize and presented his exhibition project Ambereum at the Riga Biennial (RIBOCA) in the same year and subsequently at Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2019.
Vert was a scholarship holder at Tarabya Cultural Academy, Istanbul (2020 and 2021) and at Urbane Künste Ruhr (2021). He currently holds a scholarship at Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems until the end of this year.
